Wordless Wednesday – Making Ravioli

On Monday I got to spend one of those days doing what I love best: an all day project in the kitchen. In this case, one of our family favourites: homemade ravioli filled with roast duck and caramelised onion. I always have a very sore back by the end of the day, but I have to say, I do it as much because I enjoy it, as for them. And we all enjoy eating it. And you know when my Maggie Beer apron, (purchased at her farm shop in the Barossa) comes out that I mean business. Linking up with Trish at My Little Drummer Boys.

  1. How many do you make at once? They sound absolutely devine! You know I have never made pasta of any sort (on my own) – always with my mum and nonna. Have it in my head to give it a go on my own once we move because I’ll have a big bench on which to work! I saw one of those pasta hanging things on Parenthood last night too – where did you buy it? We’ve always just laid pasta out flat (which obviously takes up lots of room)! It’s a great space saving idea!

    • First I usually get about 45 or so, but that’s with a fair bit of off cuts. When I am on my game I can get up to 60, depending on the size. Husband bought me a kitchenaid for Christmas years ago, and I bought the pasta roller straight away. So now I make it often, especially pappardelle, which I can’t find everywhere and we love. Obviously something like this is a bit more effort, but the taste is worth it. Husband also makes the broth. I bought the attachments and the pasta rack on kitchenwaredirect.com.au They have free postage over $100 and it’s pretty quick.

    • Thanks! LOOTTTSSS of time to look like that. I should have mentioned that it has taken me a good ten years to get the hang of it. No Italian nonna for tips, more’s the pity.

  2. Oh yum. sounds like a tasty combination! I often make my own pasta, but have never made ravioli. It’s on my list of things to do. So is visiting Maggie Beers shop now too!
