My favourite bits of 2012.

Forget Christmas. And New Years Eve. And summer, the beach, and going on holidays. What I REALLY love best about the end of every year are all the lists. You know, the wrap up. Best of the year, best music, best movies, biggest moments, saddest moments, births, deaths, weddings, you get the idea. The TV montages, the magazine spreads devoted to the year that was. I LOVE IT ALL. Like some demented freak desperate for the nostalgia of what happened five minutes ago.

Anyway, in that spirit, I thought I would compile a list of my own. Specifically, the posts I have shared this year that have been the most popular and talked about. And maybe the ones I liked the best. It’s also a way for some of my newer readers to catch what they may have missed. So, in no particular order here are the best bits of this here blog over the last year:

Role Play. I thought after four kids I had this parenting thing figured out. Until Mister Four asked for his own Barbie doll. And the feminist in me freaked out.

Bad Parenting this was hugely popular. Seems a lot of people were happy to read about how mean I am to my kids…

A Letter To My Firstborn obviously needing no explanation, this post is very dear to me, not least because my husband actually teared up while reading it.

Full House strange things happen when you find yourself alone in a usually chock full house…

“The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” seems I wasn’t the only one to declare this my new favourite book this year. I should also add that since publishing this post I have watched the movie. Loved that too.

Growing Up Croatian this one is my most read post EVER. It had hundreds of views within just hours of hitting “publish”. I had lots of comments on this one, and a lot of you out there seemed to relate.

Story Time I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who loves hearing all about your birth. It was lovely to receive so much feedback from so many of you.

When A Friendship Dies this one was very personal, and about three years in the making. It felt good to get it all off my chest, and once again, so many of you understood.

A Rockin Stroll I know this one is very recent, but there are obviously lots of Evan Dando and Juliana Hatfield fans out there…

It seems that lots of you enjoy the Bite Size series of posts, which is basically all those random moments which are too funny and/or baffling not to share. You can find them here, here, and here.
